Korean for Beginners
This programme was designed by leading experts in Korean language to help you take your first steps into the world of Korean language and culture.
Modern South Korea is a country where you can see how the distinct culture and highly developed technologies, traditional and modern architecture, old traditions and elements of globalisation are intertwined in an amazing way.
What am I going to achieve after completing the programme?
You will be able to not only master Korean on the elementary level, but also gain the necessary knowledge about the Korean culture and traditions, which is crucial in learning the language. Once you have mastered this basic Korean language programme, you will be able to communicate directly with your Korean peers, better understand the mentality of Koreans, and make friends in Korea.
What does the programme consist of?
The programme consists of 4 courses split into 14 modules.
- Each module provides extensive vocabulary on a variety of conversational topics such as daily routine, time, plans and weather, as well as speech styles and related grammar structures.
- You will have an opportunity to practice writing using the supplementary materials provided in the programme and memorise vocabulary with various sets of cards.
- Dialogues recorded by native speakers will introduce you to the daily life of Koreans and help in practicing listening skills.
- A wide range of exercises will help you practice new skills and check your progress.
- Additional reading is provided in order to help you become better acquainted with the distinctive Korean traditions and cultural phenomena.

The program does not require any additional knowledge or skills.
Results
Upon completion of this programme learners will know:
- Korean alphabet and basics of pronunciation;
- vocabulary at the elementary level;
- grammar rules and constructions at the elementary level.
Upon completion of this programme learners will be able to:
- correctly pronounce Korean sounds, words and phrases;
- use elementary-level vocabulary in given communicational situations;
- use elementary-level grammar in given communicational situations.
Upon completion of this programme learners will master the following skills:
- reading and writing simple texts in Korean;
- understanding spoken Korean at elementary level;
- maintaining simple conversations on the topics covered in the course.
Document
The certificate is issued upon completion of the graded tasks of the programme (tests, peer-review assignments).
